I’m pleased to say that following my appearance at Comiket a few weeks back, I’ve had the pleasure of a having a number of emails sent my way from people I met there. One such was from the lovely Andy Oliver at Broken Frontier; an online comics and graphic novel community site.
Following the event, Andy wanted to run some reviews in his small press column and decided that I would be one of the lucky few who would get a shout, something I was dead chuffed to be apart of, considering the vast number of contributors at the event.
So here you are, the review is complete and now happily roaming the web in all it’s glory, sharing the love from the con Small Press style. AND, they’ve also been good enough to pop me on their homepage too, which is even more of a nice surprise!
A big thank you to Andy for all the kind words, I’m so pleased that my work has had such a wonderful response and am truly honoured to be one of the lucky few he thought to review! Especially alongside the wickedly charming Philippa Rice and brilliant Dan Berry; both of whom I’ve collected work from at conventions before as a visitor, oddly enough.
And, while we’re on the topic of my work being plugged, I thought I’d quickly mention the guys at Accent UK.
For the first time at Comiket, I was finally able to meet Dave West face to face, after months of emailing each other. He’d read a copy of Tick a year or so ago and had also had some very kind words to say about it. At the time, he’d been busy working with Steve Holder on Robot Shorts: Owners Workshop manual; a brilliant collection of robotic tales that, conveniently for me, was to include a little space at the back for new blood on the scene. Dave had decided that Tick fit the bill, and thus this little gem of a pin up is hiding in the back of the book!
I don’t think he looks too shabby if I do say so myself!
The book is an ace little compendium of anything and everything robotic, with engaging short stories that I can’t get enough of. Massive repect to Dave West, Steve Holder and everyone at Accent UK for all their hard work in creating such a brilliant collection! I highly suggest you check it out here, there really is something for everybody within those pages.
Peace Out
